In the sky tonight...

Just happened to raise my head and look up in the sky tonight--and saw some many stars bright and clear. Pretty sight.

I wish to go to Pulau Ubin, or some place, where there's not so much city lights, to look at the night sky. Perhaps can see Polaris as well. That's a wish for now still...

A Long Weekend...

Just finished watching "A Beautiful Mind"..Never knew that little bit of game theory, and Nash Equilibrium that I came across in Econs was the work of his (John Nash, who won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 1994). Hmm...

Alright, the weekend seems to stretch forever this time round, started from Thursday. Haha. Went to watch Star Wars (frankly, girls are not fans of Star Wars, just want to say this again). Then it was Friday--the mini class gathering cum birthday celebration for Ravel and Darius @ Tony Roma's(!!) Seriously, it felt weird sitting at the table with some of them. And more so, having to choose sth within budget to spend on. Haha. Sounds pathetic yeah, just like sister like to say, "I'm a lowly paid clerk in N***" (and I'm jobless)!! So after dinner, we went to chijmes, without the bday clique that is. Went into this Irish Pub (went there last time on Xmas eve eve with my orientation group in 2003). Spent some time chatting, and shooting questions elsewhere (?) before heading home. Not too bad a day, I would say.

Hmm...it was home-sweet-home on Saturday. Dear was supposed to meet his army frens in the evening, but it was cancelled (yeay! Haha. ) and he came over to my house instead. We (yeah, we!) watched the FA cup final together. It was Man Utd vs Arsenal. Exciting match, really. Had to decide the winner with penalty, seems like that's the first ever in FA Cup history (is it?)Hohoho..As so many people mentioned on their msn nicks: the better team doesn't always win.

My bro went for Big Walk today!!..and the weather was super duper HOT today can!! Haha. Fortunately, I'm the lazy bum who's still sleeping at home :p while he's walking 10km..Then when he came back, he told me he saw someone who looks so much like Dear..he really looked at the imposter who replied with "Can I help you?". Wahaha. Thought it was really just a look-alike but it turned out that it was his twin bro!! What a small world isn't it? So funny...

No tuition tmr cos the kid says it's Buddha's birthday. Thinking of what to do in the day...

Movies + Book = ???

Alright, over the past two days or so, I watched two movies (technically, only one that's in the cinema) and finished "Digital Fortress". When put all these all together, know what you get? You start talking the way they do! Haha..

First movie I caught on DVD was "Casualties of War". Based on an actual incident that happened during the Vietnam war. Men who somewhat lost their sanity out in the combat zone and kidnapped, raped and killed a Vietnamese girl. Okies, so you know how all these war movies like to hurl vulgarities like nothing, this whole show jus had the men kept scolding sth like "motherf**ker"! Ok so this one, I don't start talking like that of course.

Today, I went to watch "Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith" Dear was going to watch it with his frens, and so I went too (since I had no tuition today). Haha..I just can't help but laugh whenever I see Master Yoda (trying to) fight. To me, he's more like a "kid"--cos he looks so small. Of cos, you will notice many pple talking like him when out of the cinema, changing the order of nouns, verbs and what have you (actually I can't differentiate which is which). So start speaking like this: go to sleep,I shall..find a job, I must..hmmm...

Down with the first book of the week, moving on to read "Deception Point". Without wax, ME! Magic no. is 3! Got quite impatient towards the end, cos the author had to wait till the very last seconds to reveal that. I was waiting jus to see that answer on the page. Haha..Does anyone has "Da Vinci Code" to lend me? Finishing all these Dan Brown's books in the holidays.

Alright, feeling a little sian. Not too excited anymore.

I haven't done shopping!!!

Nice movie...

I just received a call from this guy from a recruitment agency that I sent out job application to. BUT the problem is: I can't seem to recall what job is that (cos I sent them out more than a week ago I believe). Think I sounded so blur on the phone, even the guy realized it. Before I know it, our (really short) conversation has ended. So I'm still puzzled...and jobless! How weird, and I kind of regret it now. Should have just asked more about it before saying anything else..

Hope I still have a job...

Over the weekend, Dear rented vcd and we watched it together-- Shawshank Redemption (1994). An intriguing show, with lots of content in the conversations and voiceovers. But there were so many things that I didn't realize or take note until after I read some webpages on it. The tag line: "Fear can hold you prisoner, hope can set you free."

One part of the movie that struck me the most...

Then one day in the year 1954, Brooks goes beserk when his parole comes through - he holds a knife at Heywood's throat so he'll be judged crazy and not be released into the frightening real world: "It's what they've done. I got-I got no choice...It's the only, it's the only way they'd let me stay."

He's just institutionalized...The man's been in here fifty years, Heywood, fifty years. This is all he knows. In here, he's an important man, he's an educated man. Outside he's nothin' - just a used-up con with arthritis in both hands. Probably couldn't get a library card if he tried...these walls are funny. First you hate 'em, then you get used to 'em. Enough time passes, it gets so you depend on 'em. That's 'institutionalized'...They send you here for life and that's exactly what they take, the part that counts anyway.

Just before he departs the prison the next dawn, Brooks also releases his full-grown pet crow/raven Jake at the library window: "I can't take care of you no more, Jake. You go on now. You're free." The old con steps cautiously through the main gate of Shawshank, clutches the bar on the bus seat in front of him as he is transported to Portland where it is even terrifying to cross the street. The outside world presents itself as a new 'prison':

(voice-over) Dear Fellas: I can't believe how fast things move on the outside. I saw an automobile once when I was a kid but now they're everywhere. The world went and got itself in a big damn hurry.

A montage follows Brooks through his new life on the outside. He is placed in a half-way flop house called the Brewer, and is employed as a grocery-bagger at the Foodway Market. Lonely, afraid, melancholy, and disoriented in the outside world, he has difficulty sleeping. He worries about the fate of Jake as he feeds pigeons in the park. He even contemplates shooting the Foodway manager (to force a return to Shawshank), but he's even too old for that. As he packs his few belongings into a bag, he narrates, in voiceover, that he plans on leaving: "I don't like it here. I'm tired of being afraid all the time. I've decided not to stay." He climbs up onto a chair and then onto a table and carves a message into the wall with his pocketknife: "BROOKS WAS HERE." And then he kicks out the table from under his weight and hangs himself - his feet dangling. The end of Brooks' 'Dear Fellas' note is read outloud by Andy in the prison yard following his death.


Well well...gonna postpone tuition lessons later. Cos I wanna catch Survivor Finale!!! Oh yeah....

Dear introduced this song to me..think its quite soothing. Gives a ray of hope, no matter how rough the going is, seems like there's always something for you to hold on to.

Okies..so went to Orchard today!! Nothing to be really excited about, just that we barely go there, that explains the (!!). Hehe..of cos it has to be my idea (thinking of the shopping actually), but he agreed cos he wanted to check out Borders for a book.

No more bus concession, so I took the MRT! That's so rare of me..First person I saw when I came out of the station was Jiawei, Dear's fren (and not Dear!). Haha. Kinda surprised to see him. Luckily Dear came shortly, but k.p.o me suggested waiting for Jiawei's fren (who's a gal) together. He didn't entertain me. Bleah :p

Today I've got herbal tea--from this certain chinese medicine shop at Tampines Interchange. It was supposed to relieve me of some heatiness. I really believe that's why I'm falling sick. Damn. Fortunately, it was not very bitter, else I don't think I will drink it.

Walked around Wisma and Taka a little, but still nothing to buy. Trying not to make Dear too bored at the same time as usual. So in the end we just went to Borders, but while walking there, I actually saw my colleague who used to work with me after A's; I haven't seen her for so long! Still the same, I guess. On her way back to sch for make-up lesson.

Secret Soldier is the book that Dear wanted to buy. After checking out Borders and Kinokuniya, we still can't find it unfortunately. Looks like he has to get it from Amazon.com if he really wants to get it. Or shall I be nice to him? Haha.

So we (or he) were browsing through some of books under "Military History". Never, in a million years, would you find me there otherwise! Picked up a few on Israel and Jerusalem--apparently those were way beyond my scope of understanding, and willingness to understand. I even asked him, "Where is Israel?" He can't believe I dont even know that. Wahaha. Then when I asked him more questions, that was his time to show off his knowledge, while I can only nod or say "orh.." Way too confusing for me, I guess.. :p Sometimes I am really amazed at how little general knowledge I have; what really is inside my brain? Should I be glad I can still write fluent english (is it?) and chinese at least? My aim for next week: Read two of Dan Brown's novels Digital Fortress and Deception Point.

Dinner was at Big O Cafe at Wheelock Place. Lucky we were there early, cos there was a long queue outside both Big O and NYDC. Finally get to use my special privilege card..and got to enjoy the food, and mudpie! So sinful, but I don't care. For the lady, it was panfried cod fish fillet and for the gentleman, it was sirloin steak well-done (in what various ways can it be done?). Perhaps not the most filling meal, especially not for Dear. But nonetheless, still quite enjoyable.

Soon it was time to head home. Glad to have spent the day out, finally got to get out of the house. Not that I was under house arrest in the first place. Just lazy to go out. Saw this really cool car while walking to the bus stop (yeah, bus!), like W-O-W! How often do you see Rolls Royce in Singapore?!

Getting old and forgetful...

I really think I am. Lao cok cok. Haha. I had wanted to disconnect my mp3 player from the computer for so many times already, but each time I forget and forget and forget. Until now, I've finally done so. The battery must be fully charged by now!

Feeling so bored. Think I've got enough of holidays, most other people have started working. Only me--still at home. Not finding a job yet. Haha.

Falling sick maybe. Got a headache, and an ulcer in the mouth. Too heaty perhaps. Well, blame the chocolates for making me eat them; I didn't want to. *innocent* Haha. I still have craving for tou hua...Cravings are not meant to be satisfied, are they?

Did anyone hear how the winds were howling outside your windows last night? I swear they were really *howling*!! It was quite scary, I thought. Felt kinda threatened by nature's force even though I was in my house, in my room, in my bed under the covers.

Haha..I found out this fact while going through the pri6 Science textbook at tuition jus now. So I can learn something from them too (other than bluffing my way through some examples in Science)!! Of course she doesn't realise it.

I ended up reading some other fashion magazine other than TIME. Haha. So much for trying to be updated with the TIMEs. For once, I feel like getting some make-up and going pubbing (no way I will go club I guess..) I always wonder what kind of night life is there in Singapore. I'm always at home at night, watching TV, chatting online, or typing at my blog (like this..) Well well, for one thing, I don't mind staying out late (in fact sometimes I do like it quite abit). But I don't like going out late. Some difference there.

Here again..so BORED!!

Nothing much to do at home. Feeling a slight headache. The weather is alternating between sunny and rainy every other day.

Had a dream last night. It felt really good--it was a dream about band, back during the days when I was in Cedar. I miss playing on the clarinet, miss practising drills and marching in the courtyard on Saturday mornings, or playing music as a group in the bandroom. All these I miss. It has also been a long time since I last attended a band concert, or heard band music. It seemed so long ago...

Thinking of doing something more meaningful and constructive in my life. First, I will try to do more reading while I'm at home. Took my brother's TIME magazines. Perhaps find out more about some volunteer work too?

Went to watch Kingdom of Heaven in Tampines yesterday. A little too cheem for me. I never knew much (in fact any) about Jerusalem and stuff. Still not too bad I guess.

I have an urge to shop!!!

A Gentle Reminder

Just a thought, anyone who goes out with me, and takes a bus, please remind me to tap my ez-link card before alighting!!

I forgot all about it just now, when I went for tuition. Lucky that was a feeder bus, so the bus fare was a flat rate. No more bus concession. Not until I found a job or need regular travelling.

Pretty excited about Saturday. Going to attend a pri sch class gathering!! Wohoo~! They are so "on", even got my form teacher to come too. Should be pretty nice time. The problem: they are meeting at Millenia Walk, and I don't know how to get there. Supposedly there would be some signs or indications at City Hall? (I thought I was quite street smart...) Haha...

Yeay..

I've got a new template!! Quite like this one..except that it's a little too much pink? Plus a new tag board, and Zhihui has made the first tag! Haha.

I've done all that I had planned to do in my break already. The only last thing left--to find a job. But easier said than done. More and more people are working, and fewer and fewer left to slack like me. (see the scale below--I'm a little slacker!) Haha. Shall check out the online websites again then..

I forgot to write down my long anticpated trip to Kallang Theatre to watch Lord of the Dance! Well well, it was good, and I was once again impressed by their footwork! The only thing I was puzzled was: Why is Michael Flatley not Michael Flatley? Seems like the lead dancer was not Michael Flatley, but someone younger, and not as charismatic as him. Other than that, I guess it was a good performance.

Perhaps it's cos we went on a weekday, the audience seats were not filled up-no full house. In fact, when it was slightly past eight, and the show was abt to start, there were still quite many empty seats in the Circle section. So we followed most of the crowd and moved a few rows down, and had quite a good view. The ushers did not stop us, so I supposed they too, knew those seats were going to be left empty otherwise. To think abt it, I paid lesser for the tix, and yet still got quite a good seat. Satisfied (thou a little guilty at first.)

Well, had Mothers' Day celebration at my house yesterday-so my relatives came. Well, saw my cousin's children (so that makes them my niece and nephew? I dunno..) They are sooo cute!! and they really resemble their parents..so sweet! But they were so hyper, my cousin and his wife had to follow each one of them all around. The little girl ignored me when I was talking to her! (hmph..rejected by a little girl..) But later, when my dad and mum tried to talk her, she also ignored them. Haha. So I should just conclude she doesn't like to talk to strangers, and not only me. Most of the other time, I was jus sitting in the living room watching tv.

What I dread was cleaning up after they had all left. So I helped my mum with that, to vacuum the floor and such. So I would stretch my back every now and then, cos I was jus having this terrible backache yesterday. Haha. I just keep complaining to Dear of my backache almost every month every time, but not as though he can do anything. Still having the aches. So I guess I'm just going to nua on the bed now.

Still got tuition later. It's her exam period now..so shall have intensive revision with her later.

Food for thought, heard this comment on 非常男女...

People in the past use binoculars (望远镜) to choose their partners, so they look into the future. But people now use magnifying glass (放大镜) to choose their partners; they look out for the smallest details (and flaws).

Hmmm...the whole point of the comment: people are too picky?

Well, my Saturday, only one week since the end of my exams. Yet I feel like I had holidays for a long time already. Perhaps cos I have been sleeping quite alot. Basically when I never go out, not online, or don't feel like doing anything else, I sleep--and dream. Haha.

Went out today for a dip in the pool. BUT I didn't really want to go for a dip in the pool today cos not feeling too well, yet I still went. The pool was sooo crowded with kids having their swimming lessons; so there were kids with green caps on one side and blue caps on the other. They splash a whole lot of water when they swim free-style! How I dread that! Haha. Maybe cos I can no longer swim free-style? Too exhausting for me to even last two laps...Practise perhaps?!

Good that things were ok between Dear and me already--talked it out today, made a promise. So we had dinner at KFC. And I was telling him that we are a non-fastfood couple, as I recounted the no. of times we ate at fastfood restaurants: never at BK nor MOS Burger, only once at Macs, twice or thrice at KFC, and maybe five times at Long John's Silver when we were rushing to catch a movie. Maybe this is good since fastfood is not good. Sounds silly. Nothing better to do than to count.

Then we crossed the road where there was a pasar malam, and bought otak (so spicy)! Waited for Dear's friend to yim kopi at Starbucks, oh yeah, expensive kopi. So there I was, quite bored by their conversation cos they kept talking abt their army days and people. Word of warning to guys: please don't start talking about ur army days whenever you get together with ur buddies--especially when there are girls around. It's not a very interesting topic, you see? So they went from this person to that person, blah blah blah...

While they were talking, I got a little shock when I found out that Dear smoked a cigarette from his friend-in NUS (for fun he added). Hmph. I must ban him from seeing that friend. Negative peer influence. Haha. Unfortunately, I've a particular dislike for cigarette smoke--I would siam whenever I see someone arnd me smoke! So I won't want Dear to smoke, and make me a second hand smoker. Glad he assured me he won't do it again-that was just for once (for fun he said).

That's about it-so his friend went chionging (to support his hall), while Dear and I went back.

I had a BIG surprise waiting for me at home!...A HUGE cockroach!!! Totally disgusting and detestable!!! My greatest fear: it can fly!!! (Probably flew into my room after it made its entry from my grandma's room.) Fortunately, I managed to grab the Shieldtox spray and kill the cockroach before it could "soar" and terrorise me, so it was scrambling for its life across the floor before finally overturning, and decided to give up its last efforts to move its limbs. Haha. Then I got my brother to use the tissue to get rid of the "corpse" for me! Dear is scared of cockroaches too, wonder if he can get rid of cockroaches next time?! Think I will succeed in giving him a shock with one instead!!! :p

So silly. Time to sleep. Gonna have buffet in my house tmr--celebration of Mothers' Day!!

Sometimes I just fail to see the other side (of many sides) of the other person. The fact that he or she doesn't show or say it doesn't mean there isn't one; and it may really depends on whether there is such a situation for me to actually be aware of this other side. Similarly, the same applies for myself-there may be something else that you do not realize about me.

When Dear says, "I just want you to be happy", that really touches me. It's a simple statement, but yet it means alot. I'm sorry that I throw tantrums at him sometimes, and fail to appreciate all those things that he had done for me--so that I won't be angry with him, and be happy instead. The things that he says to cheer me up after our quarrel so that I could wipe away the tears. I can only say I'm really thankful for having such a loving bf.

It's really the little things that matter the most; that makes a difference, be it in the positive or negative sense. Perhaps for a rather sensitive girl like me, it may sometimes mean more than what he or she has intended. So I'm grateful for the little things he had done for me, and at the same time, try not to be oversenstitive towards some other little things.

Anyway, I caught "A Walk to Remember" on HBO channel last night at 2 plus (AM!). The show is quite old already actually, shown in 2002; I've read the story book before, but I have only seen it now. In summary, the show is about love's ability to change people. It's a predictable plot, but it's really nice and touching--with a sad ending!! Anyway, I find this is the nicest song in the show, especially if you actually see that scene. Only Hope...

Each time I come online now, the first thing I do is to check my mail--hopeful of seeing a new mail in my inbox, perhaps telling me of a job opening. But up till now, no no...sigh...So the plan is to go to International Plaza and check out the job agencies next week-as soon as possible. Certainly be ideal if I can start work by the 2nd week of May...

But well, exams are all finally over! This is the only morning paper that I have, and the thing about morning paper is that it's over before I know it, before I'm fully awake! Haha. So I just went through the paper like this today..and time seemed to pass by really quickly actually (perhaps I was just busy copying the source code from the notes?) Glad to say the paper was manageable at least, though not certain of the answers really. The lecturer said there's almost 3 answers to each of the programming question!

So after the paper, I waited for Wanling while she went back to hall to collect some of her clothes, afterwhich we headed for HarbourFront. I might say, it's my first time stepping into the new (no longer?) shopping complex, and it's not bad! So we treated ourselves to la mian, and then walked around to see if we can bag any purchase. That has been a habit since dunno when-as though shopping after the last paper is really a sign of liberation-coming out of hibernation at home! Haha. Well, but nothing to bag home. Stayed around and talked for awhile before we parted and I went to meet Dear, haven't seen him in two weeks!

Got a little impatient while waiting for him to reach, cos the fatigue has started to creep in on me. It took me 20 mins or less from HarbourFront (by bus) while he took 40 mins or so from Tampines to reach Suntec. (I dun believe...) Anyway, so he came, and then we hurriedly walked towards the cinema. The inital plan was to have dinner before catching Coach Carter. But cos he was so late, you know...

While walking towards the cinema, we were stopped by this Uncle (very sincere looking) and he wanted us to sit down at the table to look through some photos and sign up for some wedding package!!! Uncle, we are only undergraduates, still too young la...haha!! Worst of all, when we told the Uncle we were rushing for time, he got an Auntie to come talk to us instead. You won't believe how persistent the Auntie was, she even suggested that we can just put a deposit for the package first, and it would still be available to us in ten years' time. The price she quoted was $3288 or sth, I think. Is that considered cheap? I don't know! We just insisted on leaving, and the Auntie finally had to let us go, but of cos not without having that disgruntled look on her face. Sorry Auntie, but we are not the right customers for you...After we left, I just suddenly had the thought, what if we had told her that we never intended to make the relationship last, what's more get married?

So in the end, we settled for dinner at Fish & Co. Nothing much, just ate fish? Hehe. Then it was followed by compulsory dessert whenever we go to Suntec--Yami Yoghurt!!! How I love Yami Yoghurt!!! Flavour of the day: Peachie. So we were walking arnd the Fountain of Wealth, and we happened to see someone dedicating songs on the touchscreen. And so Dear did one for me!! *grinz* but he took so long to think of the song he wanted, that the screen went back to the Main Menu instead. So it was typing all over again!

So we went up to the seats at the roundabout to listen out for the dedication. A pity, we never heard it. Neither did we have a chance to see the (laser) words being shown at the fountain. Orh...it really would have been perfect otherwise :p

Nothing much after that, as we merely walked around and did a bit of shopping (on my request of cos). He never liked to shop in the first place. So I just looked at little stuff while trying to make sure that his patience has not run out. I doubt I can ever train him to be able to enjoy, or even endure shopping with me. I was preoccupied with looking at clothes, that I had forgotten to buy a birthday present for my tuition kid, whose bday is on Monday! Still have a chance to do so over the weekend, I believe...

So back home I am, I shall think of what to do for my first day of freedom tmr (later)...
1. Clear my table-by packing all the notes and textbooks.
2. Change my bedsheet and clean up the rest of the room-been nuaing on the bed too much over the past two weeks or so already.
3. Of cos, watch tv! Think the show, Quill (the cute dog) will be shown tmr. I must watch that!
4. And, think of what else to do for the rest of the Long Vacation....

Finally, I've bought the tickets! So I can go watch Lord of the Dance on Thursday! So excited!! Certainly think it would be a good show--but hopefully I can still see most of the people clearly from the circle seats...

Perhaps one of the days I will go swimming!! The weather is so hot, and there's almost not a single cloud in the sky; the weather is excellent for some tan. Just a little will do.

Well well, getting really tired. Been awake for almost 20 hours already...
